Melanie has been surrounded by dance since childhood as her family ran a clogging studio and performed together. Over a 17 year period she studied ballet, modern dance, ballroom, tap, jazz, clogging, theater arts, and vocal performance. During this time she trained at Caché School of Ballet (Cecchetti and Russian styles), The Dance Center (jazz, tap, and ballet), and Utah State University as part of the elite Sunburst Singers and Ballroom Dance Teams. Her performances and competitions with USU involved extensive travel throughout the Western United States and Canada. Melanie also filled three summers with Oleo and musical performances equaling 150 shows. In addition to Melanie’s passion for dance, she loves to teach dance and has had significant experience as both an instructor and choreographer. After a year at The Dance Center, she assumed the role as head instructor for students up to 12 years of age. In addition, she has operated small dance schools from her home in both Utah and Texas. Her choreography experience varies from high school musicals and ballroom dance competition routines to complete dance recitals and solo performance pieces. Her love of dance inspires her students to create and enjoy movement and she hopes her experience and enthusiasm are a positive addition to Studio One Dancers.
