Marissa loves to dance. Her journey in dance started at age four when she took her first creative movement dance class. She continued to dance her way through life and now has over 17 years of experience in modern, ballet, jazz and lyrical. In high school, she performed with Brigham Young University’s Youth Artists Ballet Company and then continued on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Modern Dance from Brigham Young University. While attending BYU, she performed with the modern dance company, DancEnsemble, which focused on student choreography and performance. Teaching children’s creative dance and using literature in children’s dance was also a main focus in her college studies. Marissa has taught children’s creative movement at BYU’s Children’s Creative Dance program. She has also taught ballet, jazz, lyrical and tap to children of all ages at local studios both in Utah and in Texas. Her choreography experience ranges from young children to college students at both BYU and Sam Houston State University, and in all genres of dance. “I love to dance and I feel so blessed to be able to share this love with others, both through performing and teaching. I believe that dance is for everyone and that it should be a joyous exploration that leaves everyone who participates edified and uplifted.” |
